I never denied that there is a disproportionate privilege that some people have over another, but not every white person reaps the rewards of slavery, not even close. I grew up hard, even homeless temporarily when I was 5. I became a single mother when I was 20. What I’ve learned from life is to be independent, because nobody is going to help you but yourself. There’s no such thing as a free lunch, and I’ve worked so hard to be at such a better place now for me and my daughter.
