Oh, sweet baby, that’s not what happens. At all. You will not be expelled for using the word man in a paper. Also, I did not know saying police person/business person instead of business man or police man Living with a german builds character mug was your criterion for a war on your sex. Imagine if we told you only ladies could vote or paid you less because you were male. The horror

so I don’t believe or a second that is anything but a tiny minority of people that want to change the name of towns — official editing guidelines do not recommend this. Using gender neutral terms is great! Living with a german builds character mug Can you extrapolate and take it too far? yeah of course, and some people do, like with the town example, but I don’t see evidence of it being more than taking a few people and giving them megaphones
I feel sorry for the people who find this as a war against men. Trying to make language gender neutral is asking for equality. People crying about fireman being turned to firewoman or post man being turned to post woman is understandable. But what you say is, with all due respect, cribbing for no apparent reason. Using *neutral, equal terms* does not add up to a “war” on men. I’m sorry, but that is feckin’ idiotic. What it does reveal is just how male-centric our society is, when we consider how much of our terminology would have to be changed to scrub gender bias out of the language. It also shows how “black-and-white” the conservative male-centric world is, that striving for removal of bias must *surely* mean there’s a war on men! They can only see two shades of the same thing, when in fact the world is filled with not only shades of gray, but also millions of colors. So nope, and nope again.
