This man did a talk in my junior high in St. Albert about 28 years ago and he taught me more about life than anything the school system could teach us. his is my father and my hero. He worked and supported me Klendathu shirt and my mother and never complained about it. His mother told him from the time he was born that nothing was wrong with him, that he could do almost anything, he just had to find a different way to do it. He is not handicapped, not to me. He is different, but arn’t the most wonderful people in life?
What a wonderful, powerful message. He was blessed with a truly great , caring mother. Proud of you Alvin. Thanks for showing people there isn’t anything you can’t do if you try. God bless you. I understand how you all marvel at Alvin but amongst the thalidomide survivors he’s just one of us, doing his best. I don’t want to be rude or offensive to anyone who has religious beliefs if any kind but it was not god that taught Alvin to be who he is but his parents! Klendathu shirt Parents like mine and many others who decided we were just another child In the family and were treated as such. I was the first UK thalidomider (and thought to be THE first) to have children. Sara came bouncing into this world a healthy 8lb 3oz followed by 2 brothers and a younger sister.

Our success has very much been down to our parents and not the god you talk of but our own very special gods. I wish you all well over the other side of the pond. You are amazing and an inspiration to others. Label are for jars, not humans. I can only hope that one day that all are of us are accepted equally as we all have so much to offer. What a great mum u have. I Immediately thought of James Baldwin’s admonition that “you’ve got to tell the world how to treat you because if the world tells you how you are going to be treated, you are in trouble.”
