It’s funny to me that the conversation on a lot of these comments deal with only slavery and that was over a long time ago. There are long lasting effects from slavery I’m a leaf on the wind watch how I soar shirt which still are in society today. Not the least of which is that just because slavery was banned didn’t just automatically make black people equal.

I can empathize, however, without taking blame. Especially since I am Canadian and we were the one of the places escaped slaves went to escape the United States. I can also not blame people who had nothing to do with it. Americans living today are not responsible for the crimes and sins of centuries past. Governments are not responsible. They are re-elected constantly – so are essentially a new corporate entity after each election. I’m a leaf on the wind watch how I soar shirt A government’s mandate is to represent the current voters and to look at present and future problems. Government is not designed to right historical wrongs. Government has trouble paying its bills as it is – asking it to pay bills from centuries ago is a recipe for total economic collapse.
Have a nice time in here
Took another 100+ years of hate, disrespect, beatings, lynchings and exploitation before black people were even considered equal legally on the books in this country. That was just over 50 years ago. If u think all things leading up to that were just erased in less than a generation ur a fool. And just because the laws were on the books didn’t automatically stop the hate and bigotry, redlining, predatory lending among all kinds of things that still go on today. People have been benefiting from slavery, the effects of it and the diminished rights of black people for the entire history of this country and that’s just facts.
