I also think it’s not racist, mainly because Notre Dame has had a much bigger cultural impact than the sacred trees. Only 50 people went to the protest against the road that will be built, whereas the cathedral has received over $1 billion in donations. It’s not really fair to compare the two and try to make out that they are both equally significant in terms of cultural significance. I really don’t see how this is racist. If the tables were turned (I.e if the tree was saved and Notre Dame was destroyed), then would people have the same right to call it racist? I just don’t see it.
A building is man made. A tree is not. Indigenous Australians connect with the land. Its not even a comparison if you understand basic cultural concepts of Ingidenous Australians!! Of course i agree with you about having a connection with the land, without it we’re all dead. It was useless, within a month the beautiful trees were gone replaced by bitumen. It’s more the building i have a problem with
