I’m not happy about kneeling simply because it just perpetuates and increases a negative perception. That said, I really don’t mind it in the big picture because to kneel IS being done to honor those who fought for freedom while not honoring the government they perceive as treating certain people groups unfairly. I appreciate this veteran’s feelings, as well as his thoughtfully worded request. I just think he isn’t aware that the idea of kneeling came from the suggestion of a former Green Beret and NFL player to Colin Kaepernick. Every player who kneels thanking you for your service while also saying to the U.S. police agencies they want people of color to be treated the same as Caucasians.
No one has the right to disrespect our Country our flag or our service men If they want to protest do it on their own time and their own dime. I look at kneeling as a form of prayer. This is definitely not a form of protest against our Soldiers. We are the land of the free, with liberty and justice for all. Until that truly happens all we can do is pray. I am lucky son because I’m raised by a freaking awesome mom shirt (That’s where I feel the players are off-base but they gave a right to their viewpoint.) Anyway, I hope this man and other veterans soon learn that they are being honored and respected for their sacrifice.
